WINE

Slovácko is a region of vineyards and wine. There are many places in the world where grapes are grown, but it is difficult to find place such as Slovácko with so many family cellars and small vineyards. Almost every village has its own vineyards and wine cellars and also organizes many degustations and wine festivals. Vine varieties which especially thrive in this subregion are Ryesling, Pinot blanc, Pinot girs Muškát moravský, or Müller-Thurgau. From red wines - Blaunfrankisch, Zweigelt and Cabernet Moravia. Very significant national monument in this place is a complex of wine cellars Petrov, where 80 cellars were built since the 15th Century. In the vicinity you can also find educational wine trails.

From our camp there is a path going over the hill and leading to the ancient wine villages Blatnička and Blatnice pod sv. Antonínkem. Associations of Blatnička winemakers kindly invite you for journey along open cellars!

A hill with a chapel of St. Anthony is a place of pilgrimage, but also it is a heart of Ostrožsko region, where everyday many people come for a walk to admire beautiful views or simply lie in the grass and relax.

BIKING, TREKKING

Our camp is a good starting point for cycling tours – on one side to the less demanding terrains in neighbourhood of the camp and lowlands of river Morava – or from the other side to the adventurous areas of the beautiful White Carpathians. We truly recommend one-day trips to explore the landscape and rich flora and fauna of different parts of the White Carpathians. There are many cycling routes and trekking trails. Very popular are also cycle trips along Baťuv kanál. The trail is 80 km long and then it is continued by other paths and trails in the area, including moravian wine trails. The cycle path is perfect for cyclists, families with children, in-line skaters, the elderly and the disabled, which appreciate almost flat and well-arranged terrain.

For many visitors Slovácko is a synonymous of folklore and living folk traditions. In ethnographic areas of Horňácko, Dolňácko, Podluží and Moravian Kopanice old traditions and customs are still alive. These are mainly traditional costumes, festivals and folk songs. About the power of local traditions testify inter alia unique folk dance Slovácký verbuňk, which is inscribed on UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Annual event called Jízda králů (Ride of the Kings) is one of the most popular and the oldest feast in Slovácko. There are also many other various traditional events like harvest festivals, fairs, city celebrations, festivals of musical instruments, folk music and last but not least – autumn wine harvest!
